Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

One of the greatest spectacles in German football pits arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich against each other in the 130th edition of ‘Der Klassiker.’ 

One of the most famous rivalries in world football draws the country’s two most-decorated teams against each other at the Signal Iduna Park in a mouth-watering Bundesliga clash. 

Stakes are high in this latest installment of ‘Der Klassiker’ as just a single point separates the sides ahead of Saturday’s kick-off.

Bundesliga pacesetters Bayern bounced back from a shock 2-1 loss to Augsburg with a narrow 1-0 home win over relegation-threatened Arminia Bielefeld last time out.

Despite a bit underwhelming run of form, the Bavarians remain a force to be reckoned with, as evidenced by their staggering tally of 42 goals from their opening 13 top-flight games this term.

Meanwhile, current runners-up Dortmund have won both league matches since club football returned to action in mid-November despite conceding on each occasion.

Last weekend’s come-from-behind 3-1 away win at Wolfsburg, coupled with Erling Haaland’s return to the fold, set Marco Rose’s side up nicely for this mammoth fixture.

Serie A: Napoli vs Atalanta

Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is the venue as Napoli and Atalanta go head-to-head in Saturday’s Serie A top-four six-pointer.

After racking up ten wins in their opening 11 league outings this season, the Partenopei have lost some steam of late as they head into proceedings amid a rough patch.

Having won just one of their last four Serie A matches, Luciano Spalletti’s men have seen their lead over second-placed AC Milan whittled down to a mere point.

With the Rossoneri facing rock-bottom Salernitana at home, Napoli can ill-afford another slip-up here if they are to retain the top place in the Serie A standings.

However, Atalanta’s visit to the town presents Lorenzo Insigne and co with a daunting task, with La Dea entering the round of the back of four successive league victories. 

Following a stuttering Serie A start by their standards, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have hit their stride of late and could come to within two points of Napoli with a win here. 

Atalanta dismantled the Partenopei 4-2 in their most recent top-flight meeting back in May and could beat them twice in a row in league football for the first time since 2016/17.
