Official: Nordi Mukiele Signs Long-Term Contract at Paris Saint-Germain

Up-and-coming defender Nordi Mukiele has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Paris Saint-Germain, as announced by the club.

After completing the signings of Vitinha and Hugo Ekitike, the reigning Ligue 1 champions have agreed on a €16m deal with RB Leipzig for Mukiele.

The arrival of the towering Frenchman coincides with growing talks linking long-serving defender Presnel Kimpembe with a summer exit.

Mukiele should provide cover at the back should his senior national team colleague wave goodbye to the Parc des Princes.

But the 24-year-old's versatility allows him to perform as a right-back equally well, a position occupied by last summer's marquee signing Achraf Hakimi.

The highly-rated defender made a name for himself in the Bundesliga during his fruitful four-year stint at Leipzig, where he was a permanent first-team fixture.

Not long ago, he and his former teammate Dayot Upamecao, currently on Bayern Munich's payroll, formed one of the most exciting centre-back pairings in European football.

With Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos and Kimpembe figuring for Christophe Galtier's centre-back options, Mukiele will have to work his sock off to break into Paris' star-studded line-up.

Upon signing his long-term contract in the French capital, the former Montpellier man refused to hide his excitement for joining one of Europe's best sides.

"I wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me," he wrote on Twitter.

"ou made me feel home since the very first day I arrived and it is with heavy heart that I leave today. I want to thank everyone involved at the club that help us reach our goals on a daily basis."
