PSG vs Metz: Ligue 1 Preview & Prediction

Newly-crowned Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and relegation-threatened Metz are set to square off at the Parc des Princes on the final weekend.

Stakes could not be higher for the visitors, who have given themselves a chance to avoid relegation following an eye-catching upturn in form down the final stretch.

Les Grenats head into proceedings unbeaten in their last three league matches, winning two of them (D1), as many victories as they had in their 20 Ligue 1 outings beforehand (D7, L11).

Though they now occupy the relegation play-off spot, Frederic Antonetti's side can ill-afford to rest on their laurels as they enter the final round of fixtures level on points with 19th-placed Saint-Etienne.

Any failed attempt to pick up a much-needed points in Paris, coupled with St Etienne's potential success at Nantes, would send Metz straight into Ligue 2.

PSG will be out to make it happen as Mauricio Pochettino's team look to complete a successful domestic season with back-to-back triumphs, following a thumping 4-0 win over Montepllier last time out.

Before cruising to an overwhelming victory at Montpellier, Paris had drawn three league games in a row, which did nothing to dent their efforts to win a record-equalling tenth Ligue 1 title.

Curiously, Les Parisiens have matched St Etienne's record for the number of top-flight titles in France, and they could have a massive impact on Les Verts' bid to stretch their Ligue 1 status to next season.

PSG can draw confidence from their jaw-dropping 11-game winning streak over Metz in Ligue 1.

Moreover, they have won their last seven home league meetings with this opposition, six of which featured multi-goal margins.

Therefore, we back PSG to give St Etienne a lifeline in the relegation battle and put lowly Metz to the sword.

Prediction: PSG 4-1 Metz
