Champions League Tuesday: Preview

The 2021/22 Champions League group stages have reached the business end as the ultimate round of fixtures lies ahead of us.

Let’s take a look at the two most exciting Champions League match-ups to watch out for on Tuesday.

AC Milan vs Liverpool

A blockbuster Champions League encounter at San Siro pits AC Milan against Liverpool in the ultimate round of Group B fixtures.

While the Reds head into proceedings having secured a berth in the competition’s knock-out stages, courtesy of all five group wins, it’s a ‘make or break’ game for the Rossoneri.

Sat a point adrift of second-placed Porto, Stefano Pioli’s men have to beat the Premier League heavyweights, or better the Portuguese side’s result against Atletico Madrid at the Estadio do Dragao to reach the round of 16.

Lady Luck has to be on Milan’s side on Tuesday if they are to secure a runner-up finish as any Porto’s victory at home would render Milan’s potential success against Liverpool meaningless.

The Italians showed they could go toe-to-toe with Jurgen Klopp’s team in the reverse fixture, suffering a 3-2 defeat despite leading 2-1 at half-time at Anfield back in September.

Real Madrid vs Inter Milan

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu plays host to a top-table Champions League Group D clash between Real Madrid and Inter Milan.

With two points separating the two sides ahead of the kick-off, the reigning Serie A champions need a victory to ensure a seeded status going into the knock-outs.

Los Blancos came out on top of a keenly-contested reverse fixture in Italy, claiming a narrow 1-0 win, a virtue of Rodrygo’s 89th-minute decider.

That match alone suggests we could have a tight, high-octane affair on our hands, with both teams taking the field amid purple patches.

Both clubs are unbeaten in their last 11 games in all competitions. While Madrid boast an impressive eight-match winning run, Inter have won their previous five competitive outings.

Therefore, making any predictions regarding the outcome is virtually impossible.
